Shirley (Filmore) Wilhite, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 22, 2016 surrounded by love.

Shirley loved archaeology and traveling the world. She became a pilot in the early 80s, mostly because her kids knew how to fly and “she was no dummy!” and wanted to know what was going on in the cockpit.

Shirley adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her memory lives on through her sons, Randall (Pauline) Wilhite, Rick (Teresa) Wilhite, and Roy (Linda) Wilhite; her beloved daughter, Dawn Wilhite; grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, Ryan, Ian, and Claire; and great grandchildren, James, Trace, Iris, and Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband Buck, and her son, Rusty.

No services will be held. Donations can be made in Shirley’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 to the Research Department.
